LONDON AND URBAN SCHOOLS
PROGRAMME FORMAT
Programme
The programme is flexible and is constantly developing but is centred around key elements that at one level offer an experience of the countryside and the unique environment around Chellington and at another level is an opportunity for encounter – to encounter one another and to encounter themselves and who they want to be.
Five Days in the countryside at The Chellington Centre will:
- Let the children explore and experience life in a very different location
- Give the children space to be themselves away from the everyday influences of school, friends and family
- Give staff an opportunity to get to know the children individually
- Give the children opportunities to excel and celebrate non academic achievements
- Help the children grow in confidence and self esteem
Out-of-school residential courses give children the opportunity to show their talents, aptitudes and interests in a way not available in school. This can be utilised to motivate and re-direct each child in his or her individual education programme back at school. Children are able to get to know their teachers better, respect them more and will be keener to learn from them when they return.
