ABOUT US
Inspirational residential centre for all ages and abilities
The Chellington Centre is an inspirational residential centre for groups of all ages and abilities to host their own programmes of activity.
Situated in rural Bedfordshire countryside, Chellington provides a quiet and contemplative environment for restful retreats, whilst being close to many attractions for groups who want a base for an action packed week. The local area provides unique opportunities for field studies notably in geography, history and the environment.
The surrounding area provides opportunities for rural adventure, exploration, field work and educational experiences, including the award-winning Harrold-Odell Country Park within easy walking distance.
Formerly the church of St Nicholas at Chellington, the conversion of the church in 2005 created a fully modernised space with facilities designed to meet the needs of residential groups including schools, charities, voluntary groups and corporations.
The main area of the converted church building now houses
- A flexible use, high ceilinged, central activity hall, holding up to 80 people theatre style and can be used for a range of indoor team games and activities
- Nestling in the former aisles are the small dormitory areas, sleeping 4 or 5 each (30 in total)
- The alter area is now a bright and beautiful breakout room
- A self-catering kitchen sits at the end of the hall.
An extension to the church provides
- Modern toilet and shower facilities
- Separate teacher/leader bedroom
- A semi-circular break-out room with large windows overlooking the Great Ouse Valley.
Outdoors your group can run external activities such as team games, building campfires and cooking on the permanent barbecue.
Because the centre is hired on a sole-use basis your group can be assured of full use of all the facilities at all times.
Most often groups hire the centre for a residential weekend or mid-week stay. The centre is also available for shorter stays and day hire subject to availability.
Chellington is run by ReachOut Plus, a charity that creates opportunities that change people's lives – especially those of the young and the disadvantaged and disabled of all ages.
